On the weekend of August 8th-10th, The Texas Flying Legends Museum took part in three different airshows!
- Wings Over Wiscasset – Wiscasset, Maine (Aug. 8-9)
- Pikes Peak Regional Airshow – Colorado Springs, Colorado (Aug. 9-10)
- Wings and Wheels Spectacular – Owls Head, Maine (Aug. 9-10)
For our two shows in Maine, we sent the same three aircraft: Our TBM-3E Avenger “Avenger 41,” piloted by Sam Graves, our FG-1D Corsair “Whistling Death,” piloted by Doug Rozendaal, and our P-51D Mustang “Dakota Kid II,” piloted by Mark Murphy.
At the Pikes Peak Regional Airshow, we sent our A6M2 Zero “Last Samurai,” flown by Chief Pilot Warren Pietsch, and our P-40E “Texas Warhawk,” flown by pilot and mechanic Bernie Vasquez. See our planes page and our crew page to learn more!
Wings Over Wiscasset broke its attendance record with 7,500 people in attendance and raised over $10,000 for various veterans groups. The second day in Wiscasset also featured a presentation honoring veterans in attendance. At the Wings and Wheels Spectacular in Owls Head, the warbirds were complemented by an array of vintage cars at the Owls Head Transportation Museum. At the Pikes Peak Regional Airshow, the TFLM planes flew on the first day, but were unfortunately grounded due to weather on the second day of the event.
