President Bush got a fly by from three of the Texas Flying Legends WWII planes a few minutes ago as they make their way back to Houston from Wiscasset, Maine. The TBM Avenger, P-40 Flying Tiger and Corsair flew low and slow to let him know that we appreciated his service and example.
**The P-40 Flying Tiger will stop at Redstone Arsenal today to pay a surprise visit to the actual remaining surviving famous Flying Tigers of WWII!
All three planes will arrive into Houston late Friday evening to “roost” for a few weeks before flying to Midland Odessa for the Commemorative Air Force Show and then back to Houston for Wings Over Houston October 25-27 when 8 of the planes will be reunited.
Wings Over Houston will include many special events for veterans. Tuskegee Airman, WWII Aces, and two reunion groups will be hosted at the Flying Legends Museum. The highlight will be a full Hangar Dance on the night of October 25th from 6-9 pm complete with brass band, singers, catered meal, and a keynote by active duty General Officer – get your tickets now!
